Oklahoma City, OKThe Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Attorney General for our Victim Advocacy and Services Unit.Position Summary:VASU is responsible for providing direct services, resources, and referrals to victims of crime; ensuring grant awards administered by the OAG are properly expended; certifying and monitoring domestic violence/sexual assault programs and batterers intervention programs; and facilitating trainings for law enforcement agencies, certified programs, and other stakeholders to help better assist victims.VASU attorneys provide counsel to the Unit’s Director and its staff to ensure all legal requirements of VASU’s programs and other responsibilities and tasks are met. The attorneys further review and provide guidance to the OAG on administrative rules, legislation, and proposed bills for impacts on VASU and/or victims. VASU attorneys will be required to assist with training and outreach efforts offered by the Unit. When necessary, VASU attorneys also file administrative actions against certified programs that are not in compliance with the standards and criteria that programs must satisfy.Qualifications:Applicants must be, or be eligible to become, licensed attorneys in the State of Oklahoma. Strong writing, research, and oral advocacy skills are required.
