Position Specific Description
Gexa Energy, LP, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, is seeking an experienced transactional attorney to assist with its retail gas business. The role will have a significant transactional component and the attorney will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of agreements. The employee in this role will provide primary legal support for the company's retail gas team. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:Review, negotiate, and draft a variety of contracts and legal documents related to natural gas including, transportation, storage, AMA, broker agreements, retail sales, and NAESBs.Provide legal support to a variety of other functions within the company, including advice on due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions and divestitures.Advise regarding appropriate legal action to be taken, and provide advice and counsel support in connection with risk management, dispute resolution, and contract management issues.Advise on licensing and customer protection requirements as well as other regulatory matters involving the impact of FERC or PUC/PSC regulatory rulings on gas, transportation, and storage costs and state-regulated retail rates.Work, in collaboration with external counsel, on litigation matters pertaining to the functional area.Contribute to the development and management of business processes, guidelines, and procedures relevant to the role's functional area.Work to ensure budget compliance and avoid the need for outside counsel.Ensure disclosure of potentially material legal issues to senior leadership.Remain current on constant changes within legal and regulatory environment and communicate regarding potential corporate impact.
