A law firm is seeking a Construction Law Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to handle a range of construction contract claims and participate in arbitration and trial preparation. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of construction law, including contract claims and related litigation issues, and have demonstrated skills in both written and oral advocacy.Duties and Responsibilities:Manage construction contract claims for both public and private projects.Participate in arbitration proceedings and assist in preparing cases for trial/arbitration.Draft and respond to motions, conduct depositions, and prepare legal documents related to construction litigation.Handle mechanic’s lien law, stop notices, bid protests, public contract law, prompt payment law, and payment and performance bonds.Assess and manage construction claims related to contract extras, delay damages, impact damages, and liquidated damages.Develop and execute discovery plans, including preparing and responding to written discovery and managing depositions.Engage in law and motion practice involving substantive law and discovery issues.Interface with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses effectively.Utilize knowledge of alternate project delivery methods in case strategy and litigation.Requirements:3-5 years of experience handling construction contract claims, distinct from construction defect work.Experience with arbitration and exposure to preparing cases for trial/arbitration, including actual participation.Proficiency in mechanic’s lien law, bid protests, and public contract law.Experience with construction claims related to contract extras, delay damages, impact damages, and liquidated damages.Demonstrated deposition experience with both percipient and expert witnesses.Strong written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting motions, conducting depositions, and managing discovery.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the California State Bar.Skills:Excellent writing skills, including drafting motions, depositions, and litigation-related correspondence.Ability to manage and execute discovery plans effectively.Proficient in legal research and analysis related to construction law.Strong organizational and case management abilities.Effective verbal communication and client interaction skills.Ability to work collaboratively with supervision and oversight.Company infoDescriptionThe Associate VP, Enterprise Architecture translates business needs into technical systems solutions and architectural roadmaps.
