Summary:

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, District 1-Standing Rock Agency in Fort Yates, North Dakota. This is a Bargaining Unit position.Responsibilities:Performing law enforcement duties including investigation, apprehension, arrest, detention, or prosecution of persons violating applicable laws, rules, and regulations.Conducting investigations of complex matters in various locations, involving locating, securing, and protecting crime scenes.Collecting and/or seizing evidence and preserving it upon completion of cases.Controlling vehicular traffic and investigating traffic offenses and accidents.Testifying and presenting evidence to grand juries in felony cases.Applying for and executing search and arrest warrants.Performing surveillance of sites and suspects to obtain evidence.Providing training in law enforcement skills and techniques to other personnel.Conducting analyses to assess resources devoted to the program, and compiling evaluation reports with recommendations for improvements.Representing the BIA OJS in technical phases of law enforcement in relations with Tribal and BIA officials, other Federal agencies, and state/local governments.Providing technical and supervisory responsibilities to plan, direct, implement, evaluate, and coordinate the functions of the Law Enforcement Program.Requirements:Conditions of Employment:Must meet the minimum qualifications for GL-05, GL-07, GL-09, or GS-11 as outlined in the job description.Must meet medical and firearms requirements.Must provide transcripts or documentation to support educational claims if qualifying based on education.Qualifications:Minimum Qualification for GL-05:

Three years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04, or a four-year degree, or a combination of education and experience.Minimum Qualification for GL-07:

One year of specialized experience at GL-05 level or education as specified.Minimum Qualification for GL-09:

One year of specialized experience at GL-07 level or education as specified.Minimum Qualification for GS-11:

One year of specialized experience at GL-09 level or education as specified.All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
