Duties and Responsibilities:Establish, enforce, modify, and terminate child support and possession/access orders in the Family District Courts of Harris County as assigned.Timely handle an assigned caseload. Review all cases and pleadings thoroughly prior to Court filings.Administer the early intervention child support program to ensure orders are enforced in a timely manner.Negotiate settlements of pending Court cases.Provide legal information to self-represented litigants referred by the Harris County Family District Courts.Handle contested litigation in Court. Prepare, perfect and orally argue any appeal necessitated by the lower Court.Conduct interviews with clients.Return client calls and respond to client inquiries in a timely manner.Document all client activity accurately and completely on the case management system.Prepare legal pleadings.Advance legal education by keeping abreast of case law and have the ability to cite and apply legal authority.Education and Experience:Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree.Licensed by the State Bar of Texas.Two (2) years of experience working as an attorney in Family Law.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.Ability to learn and become proficient in various software and web applications.Proficient using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access in a Windows 2000/XP environment.Willing to learn and become proficient in other County and State of Texas computer programs.Strong writing ability and communication skills required.Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:Regular Full-timeMonday - Friday | Eight (8) hours a day

Start time is between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.Hours must equal eight hours per day

Salary:Depends on QualificationsBased on 26 Pay Periods

Work Environment:Staff in this position should possess a high level of tolerance for this emotionally demanding and stressful work, while at the same time being supportive and understanding of the stresses being experienced by families.Physical Demands:This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.This would require the ability to lift files up to 10 pounds, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.Note:
