Human Resources Director - Baton Rouge

Southern Environmental Management & Specialties (SEMS) is currently seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to join our growing team in the Environmental Management and Services Industry. The Human Resources Director ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures, oversees all employee relations, and ensures compliance with all state and federal labor laws. As the Director of HR, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing human resources strategies and initiatives to support our organization's growth and success.

Responsibilities:

Providing consultation and support firmwide regarding the correct application of company policy, performance management, discipline, and coaching.

Assist with the development and recommendation of human resources policies, procedures, and training programs that align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.

Implement and manage performance management programs to ensure employee growth and development.

Maintain HR/personnel-related records in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Protect the interests of both employees and the company by ensuring all federal, state, local laws, and corporate HR-related compliance matters are proactively managed, including ADA, EEO, and FMLA programs.

Oversee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with market trends.

Maintain human resource knowledge with state and federal law by attending webinars, seminars, and conferences.

Oversee HR staff with employee leave of absences, including personal, medical, and FMLA.

Process unemployment claims.

Drive talent acquisition efforts, including recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees.

Conduct internal investigations with employee complaints and work closely with executive leadership.

Review terminations and conduct exit interviews.

Oversee and direct any company investigations with company officers.

Develop relationships and work collaboratively with key HR/Benefit vendors.

Promote employee engagement and a positive corporate culture through effective communication and employee relations initiatives.

Participate in Company, employee recognition, and community events as needed.

Perform other HR-related duties as required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in Human Resources, providing strategic and operational support with a rapidly growing organization, with 5 years in a management role.

Proven HR leadership experience in developing the HR vision, strategy, and building, leading, and motivating an HR team.

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Human Resources systems, and federal and state employment laws, procedures, and regulations.

Strong knowledge of HR Laws, regulations, and labor law compliance - STATE/FEDERAL, ADA, EEO, FMLA, CFRA, LOA, COBRA, etc.

Experienced in all facets of law.

Proven experience utilizing Microsoft computer applications (O365).

License/Certification:

Preferred: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP.

Pay: $62,095.52 - $74,781.70 per year
