Serves as an evangelist to the community and constituency of the Corps; develops and leads worship services and ministerial programs; provides spiritual guidance and leadership. Assists the Corps Officer in planning, coordinating, administering, monitoring, evaluating, and developing the day-to-day operations of the Corps; develops and leads religious programs; participates in social service programs providing assistance to people in need; coordinates arrangements for seasonal programs and recruits/supervises volunteers for the same; supervises and schedules Corps groups, community outreach programs, and social service work; monitors and maintains adequate financing and budgetary compliance of the Corps operations.Development ResponsibilitiesDonor fund-raising goals are established for this position under the guidance of the divisional development department. The position plans, coordinates, implements, administers, and sustains a robust Community Relations and Development plan focused on:Working with the Divisional Development Director and the Regional Resource Development Director and the Regional Planned Giving Director.Regularly cultivating and developing relationships with all newly acquired donors and donors who give more than $100 through regular mail and phone communication.Responding to prayer requests of donors regularly and incorporating prayer into Corps ministry.Develops and monitors quarterly reports illustrating progress; establishes and maintains an organized and efficient donor record-keeping system ensuring that accurate and complete records are prepared and maintained for each donor and identified prospect using The Salvation Army’s CRM (constituent relationship management system).Communicates with the Officer(s)-in-Charge, their board, and committees to develop local marketable service outlines; conducts presentations to the advisory board and executes the development plan as part of the role.Assists the commanding Officer with recruiting, cultivating, and developing relationships with the local Advisory Board, advisory board prospects, and committees.Other ResponsibilitiesMay drive Salvation Army vehicles to transport Corps members to/from Corps programs; operates vehicles in compliance with established policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.Materials and EquipmentGeneral Office EquipmentKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of the mission of The Salvation Army; the Bible and its message to teach lessons and lead others to Christ; social service program development and specifically Christian program development; The Salvation Army’s regulations and organizational structure; principles and practices of social service program administration; general principles associated with computer word processing and database management.Ability to serve as an example of Salvationism and Christian stewardship, demonstrate an interest in the spiritual well-being of all personnel, and conduct all activities with a view to accomplishing the Army’s fundamental purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.Ability to build relationships and trust within the community, analyze local community needs, conduct thorough research, prepare and maintain accurate reports, measure program effectiveness, and maintain confidentiality.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or three years of experience performing mission work or experience participating in program development for a church or corps plus 1 – 2 years’ experience in development, communications, and public relations, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses & CertificationsValid State Driver’s LicenseBon-a-fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ):This position requires an active, uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing.Click the link below to apply for the position:When an application is selected for review, typically, only applicants who indicate the relevant education and experience requirements, as indicated in the job description for the position, may be considered for job openings.
