Position Description:Full-time, 12-month, grant-funded, counseling position reporting to the Regional Director of the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center. The person will primarily be responsible for staffing the SUNY New Paltz satellite office, the Orange County Chamber satellite office, and meeting with clients in the field when appropriate. Some local travel will be necessary.

Duties And Responsibilities:The SBDC Business Advisor is responsible for servicing regional clients of the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center. Responsibilities include one-to-one business advisement, occasional group training sessions, ongoing professional development and follow-up services as necessary. Business advisors provide a comprehensive range of assistance to start-up and existing businesses including plan development, financial analysis, structuring and preparing financial statements and projections, developing marketing and promotional plans, sourcing funding opportunities, providing outside referrals as needed, and other appropriate activities as required. Business advisors develop and maintain relationships with the lending and economic development communities and participate in activities and presentations at their host institution and in the community. Advisors are responsible for regularly recording all activities in a Neoserra statewide database used to record and monitor individual counselor, Center and statewide performance.

Relevant Skills:Good organizational and time management skills are critical in maintaining a high level of service during varying levels of client activity and the often time-sensitive nature of business decision making.The position requires at least 3 years of experience in a private sector business or related consulting environment.Former small business ownership is a plus.Experience in banking or financial services.Interpersonal/people skills conducive to generating trust, respect and confidence.Ability to represent the SBDC and SUNY Ulster in settings that require professional presentations to small and large groups.Experience using Excel spreadsheets and other computer skills required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required in a business related field.Masters Degree a plus.Business ownership, management or consulting experience is a plus.And

Salary:Salary is $51,500 per year. Full Time; 12 months per year; 35 hours per week.
