Senior Associate Attorney

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in defending employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators against workers' compensation claims. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, representing clients in all stages of litigation, and providing legal counsel on workers' compensation matters.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management:
Evaluate and manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense cases from inception to resolution.Conduct thorough investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing medical records.Develop and implement effective defense strategies tailored to each case.
Legal Representation:
Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials before workers' compensation boards and courts.Draft and file legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
Negotiation and Settlement:
Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes and avoid litigation when possible.Provide clients with comprehensive risk assessments and strategic advice on potential settlements.
Client Communication:
Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about case developments and advising on legal strategies.Conduct meetings with clients to discuss case details and defense options.
Legal Research and Analysis:
Stay current with developments in workers' compensation laws, regulations, and case law.Conduct legal research to support case strategies and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Advise clients on best practices to minimize the risk of future workers' compensation claims.Ensure that clients comply with all relevant workers' compensation laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law in California.Years of experience in workers' compensation defense or related legal field.Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and legal procedures.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work effectively under pressure.Strong negotiation and litigation skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with employers, insurance companies, or third-party administrators.Previous experience with mediation and arbitration in workers' compensation cases.Familiarity with electronic case management systems.
