Position:
Staff Accountant/Payroll Generalist
The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is hiring a Staff Accountant/Payroll Generalist to work in downtown Santa Barbara. Qualifications:
Public Accounting Degree and 3-5 years professional experience in accounting
Knowledge of accounting and finance principles and procedures
Proficiency in Accounts Receivable and Payroll processing
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Duties:
Conduct mid-level general-ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze options and make financial decisions
Support monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial closes
Process Payroll on a semi-monthly basis, working with other accounting staff and Program Managers to tabulate timesheet data, and updating employee information and changes in the payroll software program
Review payroll reports for accuracy of data entry input, generating reports for month-end close lead sheets
Prepare monthly salary and related expense distributions to programs
Calculate and reconcile the vacation accrual balance
Prepare and process the retirement plan activity in accordance to plan policy, inputting employee deferrals and employer match amounts
In coordination with Human Resources, perform various reviews and tests of benefit information
Coordinate and work with APS (payroll program) and Human Resources regarding ACA, retirement benefits and other compliance and reporting
Maintain information for workers’ compensation; work with Human Resources to assure categories in APS reflect correct worker’ compensation codes
Coordinate the annual workers’ compensation audit and related reconciliations and lead sheets
Review quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting (Federal Form 941 and State Form DE-3), including year-end W-2, W-3 and 1095 forms and other required reporting
Process EDD Form 542 in accordance with State Regulations
Prepare selected billings for programs, grants, other funding sources as needed and assist CFO with billings reporting
Post related invoices (billings) and assist with reconciliation of accounts receivable
Process inter-agency funds transfers and cash movement
Other duties as assigned by the CFO
This position is full-time (40-hours per week) with benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance; retirement contribution; and paid time off (vacation, sick, holiday).
Salary range: $32.00-$38.00
