Schedule : Full TimeShift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (some on-call required)The community you'll be caring for:•Children's Hospital of Virginia at VCU (CHoR) is the only full-service heart center in central Virginia! CHoR's multiple specialists have come together as a multi-disciplinary team to optimize patient care. We want to ensure that children with heart disease receive the care they need to thrive into adulthood.The role you'll contribute:As a pediatric echo sonographer you will perform high quality transthoracic echocardiograms on a range of pediatric cardiology patients.As an academic facility, you will also educate, mentor, and assist in general oversight of students and other learners in the pediatric echocardiography labParticipation in quality improvement processes and continuous assessment of performance. The value you'll bring to the team:•Be a proactive and positive team member.•Deliver age-appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.•Assist patients and their families to have a positive experience by providing STAR service care.•Have knowledge of complex congenital heart disease and surgical palliation with the ability to obtain echocardiographic images to fully assess all the relative anatomy necessary for accurate diagnosis and management.•Remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of patients through good communication, assessment, monitoring, and care skills.•Recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure and exercised independent professional and ethical judgment.•Obtain vitals such as patient weight, height and blood pressure as well as other pertinent information depending on patient status.•Obtain images that adhere to the standards for technical quality, including proper annotation and patient identification and ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.•Maintain an organized and clean machine and work area.•Assist with scheduling patients to the echo schedule.•Demonstrate effective communication with a multi-disciplinary team.Education Requirements:•Satisfactory completion of one of the following:o At least two years in Allied Health Education Program, one year of on the job training in echocardiography, ORo Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited sonography program OR•Current Pediatric Echocardiography or Congenital Cardiac Sonography credentialo Such as: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) in Adult Echocardiography (AE) or Pediatric Echocardiography (PE), ORo Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)o CPR/BLS•If not obtained prior to hire, Pediatric Echocardiography (ARMDS) or Congenital Cardiac Sonography (CCI) registry is required one year after hire. Preferred qualifications:•Ability to perform fetal echocardiography•5 years' experience in pediatric echocardiography lab•Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Fetal Echocardiography (FE)Workday Day (United States of America)EEO Employer/Disabled/Protected Veteran/41 CFR 60-1.4.
