Position ResponsibilitiesAssists in preparation of the unit and patient rooms for receiving admissions, transfers, and post-operative patientsAssures cleanliness of roomAssures room is adequately stockedUses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning and ambulating patientsApplies and uses appropriate equipment as neededUnderstands and implements the measures used to reduce the risk of health associated infectionsReports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of the patient to the LPN/Registered Nurse in a timely mannerAssists with the admission, transport, transfer and discharge of patients, including the care of personal property and clothingLists the belongings flow sheetLabels belongings, bed and hospital equipment with patient identificationOrients newly admitted patients to surroundingsReceives and acknowledges patients independent of assignmentAssures collection of all belongings at the time of transfer/dischargeDemonstrates the ability to provide safe care to patients who are: Newborn Infants Children Adolescent Geriatric Ensures patient personal and oral hygiene needs are met daily and/or as necessaryProvides catheters care daily and/or as neededReports any pertinent observations to LPN/RNAccurately takes vital signs and records in patient record promptlyReports to LPN/RN promptlyDistribute water, records correct intake and output when indicated within shiftObtains and labels specimens accurately, sputum, stool, urine, maintaining precautions at all timesPrepares patients for surgery and/or other procedures, including prep and clip, vital sign taking and recording, assisting patient with bathing and/or voiding, and removing and securing dentures, jewelry and other belongingsWeigh patients as assigned; records weights and alerts RN to any weight gain/lossMakes frequent patient rounds at least every two (2) hoursRepositions for comfort and offers bathroom assistanceAssists RN with post-mortem care, including labeling and securing of all patient valuablesProvides patient care as directed by licensed nurse to include but not limited to: enemas, sitz baths, applying and removing ice bags, k-pads, binders and/or pelvic/buck's traction, blood glucose monitoring and simple dress changesQualifications:

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

CPR Cert required.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.Completion of a nursing assistant program either at vocational school or hospital preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one year nursing assistant experience preferred.
