Nesco Resource is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer to work one of our clients based in Milford, CT.

OVERVIEW:
The Manufacturing Engineer’s primary responsibility will be supporting production by ensuring that tools, people, methods and processes are in place to manufacture and deliver high quality lighting and power supply products. The focus on quality, safety, process efficiencies, standardized work, process and machine improvements as well implementing and supporting lean manufacturing/Six Sigma and machine improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own process development of the manufacturing line for all lighting and power supply products from initial low-volume R&D to full-scale production.
  • Develop and qualify manufacturing techniques, processes, flow maps and work instructions for line for all lighting and power supply products as well as components and assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Work with external vendors and suppliers to support hardware delivery per production schedules.
  • Establish and execute plans for future factory expansion, including capital equipment and floor layouts.
  • Implement DFM (design for manufacturability) and PFMEA (process failure mode and effects analysis) methodology and statistical process controls to set up reliable, low defect manufacturing processes.
  • Influence makes vs. buy decisions and work with external vendors to augment internal capabilities.
  • Develop comprehensive and structured work instruction for assembly process lines with detailed process steps and visual aids.
  • Ensure that work instructions, processes, tools and jigs on the production floor are adequate to meet production needs and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques, using creative, critical thinking and collaborative methods and interface with all departments on a regular basis to resolve issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for products, systems and methods, including responding to customer problems, when required; train/mentor production employees on product processes.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or Technology and 3 years of experience; AS degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or Technology and 6 years of experience.
  • No degree requires a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Project management experience working with internal customers and external vendors to deliver project and processes within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Proficiency in work instruction writing, material planning, process mapping and capacity modeling.
  • High self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting/ problem-solving skills.
  • Committed, effective and supportive team member, able to work flexibly, quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in maintaining production equipment.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Ability to:
    • Work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
    • Organize workload and the capacity to progress a range of tasks and projects at one time.
    • Work independently and as part of a team; proactively seek guidance, clarification and feedback.
    • Communicate well with administrative staff, external organizations and staff at all levels.
  • Physical ability and skill to operate production machinery, assemble products and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Direct hire with excellent benefits
  • 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm.
    • Must be willing to work hours outside the normal business hours when needed; may require weekend hours to support implementations or other projects.
  • Salary range: $90K - $110K depending on experience
