The Sterile Processing Quality and Educator Lead, within the Sterile Processing Department, provides organizational oversight, creates, and provides education, orientation, and training to all Sterile Processing Department staff. Disseminates information, provides consultation, and assistance for changes in practice to Sterile Processing and high-level disinfection best practice procedures. The Sterile Processing Quality and Educator Lead, as the Principal Educator, functions as a team leader to guide and coordinate the activities of the Sterile Processing Department Educator team. The Sterile Processing Quality and Educator Lead meets and exceeds the role and responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Department Educator job position description and is widely regarded as the subject matter expert of AAMI Guidelines for Sterilization and high-level disinfection regulatory body requirements. The incumbent designs and develops curricula, teaches individuals and develops staff competency. The incumbent creates, reviews, and updates department and hospital policies as needed. Works to create a team environment for the Sterile Processing Department Educators. Provides consultation and expertise to Sterile Processing Regulatory requirements and industry standards and regulations including, but not limited to, HSPA, CBSPD, AORN, The Joint Commission, FDA, CDC, OSHA, and AAMI.Apply By October 12, 2024Minimum QualificationsCRCST from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)

The Sterile Processing unit also supports Ambulatory Services, Inpatient Services, and the Primary Care Network within the health system by cleaning, disinfecting reusable equipment and the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of surgical instrumentation used by these services.Department Specific Job ScopeThe Sterile Processing Quality and Educator Lead has extensive knowledge of sterile processing, high-level disinfection, and endoscopic processing education and training practices to develop and deliver education and training content for all levels of Sterile Processing Technicians in the medical center.
