Senior Manager Molding Operations .The
Senior Manager Molding Operations
will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of plastic molded parts for the Business Unit. This role serves as both a technical expert and manager within the department. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. The manager will work regularly with R&D, operations, supply chain, quality, and suppliers, and will perform capacity analysis for molds and injection molding machines, making recommendations for future investments.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with R&D in early phase design and recommend solutions for sustainable manufacturing at plastic suppliers, including material selection, mold designs, and ongoing operations.Work with suppliers to develop robust molding process windows by applying Scientific/Decoupled Molding methodologies utilizing design of experiment (DOE) tools and software.Develop the relationship between molding key process input variables (KPIVs) and key process output variables (KPOVs) for plastic components throughout the value stream.Specify critical molding cell equipment from mold, molding machines, end of arm tooling, machine side automation, assembly operations, etc.Oversee engineers during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at equipment manufacturers for acceptance per Abbott equipment URS and mold build standards.Ensure reliable supply of parts by working closely with molding suppliers and performing capacity analysis for molds and assembly automation.Provide technical process support to other engineers and mentor junior associates.Oversee the writing of specifications; design verification/validation (IQ, OQ, and PQ) protocols and reports.Participate in cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve molding issues.Apply knowledge of SOLIDWORKS CAD design software to develop sophisticated 3D models and flow modeling.Apply process design expertise along with knowledge of tooling/automation design and procurement/qualification of new molds.Maintain a working knowledge of Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
RequiredBachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or technical discipline such as Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.5-10 years of technical work experience in the plastic injection and blow molding industry.Knowledge of mold design fundamentals, molding process development, plastic resin behavior, and required tooling/equipment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:5-10 years of technical work experience in the plastic injection and blow molding industry, preferably in the medical device industry.Knowledge of FDA QSR's and ISO requirements preferred.AIM Institute or equivalent certificate preferred.WHAT WE OFFER
