This position directs and oversees aspects of Golf Operations at five Fargo Park District courses, including but not limited to: Golf programming (Youth and Adult), Grounds, Pro Shops, and Facilities. This position will develop golf department strategy and goals that support guest satisfaction and financial performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

Develops strategic goals for the department. Develops the long-range and short-range goals and objectives.

Oversees and participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual budget including revenue goals and expenses for golf operations department. Monitors monthly and other financial reports and statements on a regular basis.

Oversees and monitors various administrative systems to facilitate the efficient operation of the department. Works with pros and superintendents to prioritize and develop workload planning and work schedules. Develops, maintains, and administers sound organizational plans.

Supports a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the public.

Maintains a comprehensive knowledge and awareness of new technologies and philosophies regarding trends, standards, codes, and regulations. Remains up to date on customer relations management and player development initiatives.

Oversees the care and maintenance of all the golf department’s physical assets.

Develops the golf marketing plans with Community Relations Department.

Develops and collaborates with golf department staff to implement policies and procedures for the Golf Pro Shops and Course Maintenance departments.

Provides leadership and vision to golf staff, building people, and preparing them for career advancement. Conduct effective hiring, training, coaching, and counseling.

Secures sponsorships/partnerships to fund infrastructure and instructional programming opportunities with Fargo Park District Foundation.

Oversees management of tenant contracts and provides guidance and support to the clubhouse tenants.

Collaborates with pro shop staff to create player development programs to foster both a fun recreational environment plus a competitive environment as appropriate for each market segment to stimulate revenues and add to the customer base of FargoGolf.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Accepted education and experience are as follows:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Management, Sports Management, or related field, with five or more years of experience in Golf Management or related field, three years of experience in financial estimating and forecasting, and five years of supervisory experience.

Or

Associates degree from an accredited institution in Business Management, Sports Management, or related field, with seven or more years of experience in Golf Management or related field, three years of experience in financial estimating and forecasting, and five years of supervisory experience.

Or

Ten or more years of Golf Management experience or related field with three years of experience in financial estimating and forecasting, and five years of supervisory experience.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

PGA or LPGA Membership, Class A Certification or CGCS preferred.
