Sr. HR Generalist

on our Human Resources team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2-3 days a week in the office.You'll be responsible for contributing to the AMA’s success by delivering HR services and solutions to the workforce that will result in enhanced business capability, performance, and employee engagement. Drives HR initiatives to respond to the requests of the BU including, but not limited to, talent management, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, recruitment, and retention.RESPONSIBILITIES:HR GeneralistDevelop, implement and assist in deploying HR initiatives, projects, and equitable solutions to address client needs.Champion change utilizing change management tools.Function as an HR SME and operate under minimal supervision; identify issues, priorities and concerns, offering applicable HR solutions.Provide recommendations and support on a variety of employment needs including attracting, retaining and engaging employees, assessing short and long-term staffing needs, addressing productivity issues and implementing organizational design.Responsible for internal forms such as requisitions, JD requests, EOEs, offboarding, and timecard issues.Oversee memos from ERGs.Manage legal compliance – monitor laws and regulations, draft and edit policies and procedures, respond to segments of HR audit; handle compliance reports, internal compliance monitoring, follow-up and education.Monitor contracts and expirations—i.e., visa, contractor, and internship tracking and follow-up.Generate, analyze, and interpret data and trends using Power BI and other data sources. Communicate findings.Monitor Above and Beyond budget, usage, and follow-up.Manage EAD logistics.Employee RelationsApply subject matter expertise to manage simple to highly complex employee relations and performance issues.Independently conduct thorough and objective investigations involving allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation following legal and industry best practices. Engages with the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) as needed.Handle ADA accommodations, short-term requests, and leaves in partnership with the benefits team.Proactively identify issues, risks and/or concerns and advise on how to address, eliminate or mitigate risk.Provide sound advice, coaching, and recommendations to managers and employees.Internal CollaborationCollaborate and build effective relationships with other members of the HR team to facilitate timely delivery of Human Resources services.Act as a conduit to address training and development needs, DEI issues, compensation structures, pay issues, benefit-related inquiries and issues, system issues, onboarding and recruiting needs.Assist HR Director and HRBPs—back-up for coverage, maintain documentation, lead or follow-up in investigations, and other projects including tactical duties.May include other responsibilities as assignedREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree requiredMinimum 7+ years of HR experience.Substantive knowledge of HR practices, procedures and policies, as well as employment and labor laws.Proven ability to investigate and document simple to highly complex employee relations.Proven track record of navigating organizational boundaries.Strong ability to work through complex situations and difficult conversations with diverse stakeholders.Strong consulting, interpersonal, teamwork, communication, service delivery, and client service skills.Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.The American Medical Association is located at 330 N.
