ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Western Digital is seeking a

Senior Manager for their Global Trade Operations Organization

, located in San Jose, California. This pivotal role focuses on deriving business value through compliance practices. The incumbent must possess expertise in Import and Export operations and compliance, along with business facilitation, data analytics, and team management.This global role involves managing a team of regional trade experts to support WD’s business units in managing trade compliance obligations with US Export and customs compliance and local regulations. The goal is to create business value through proactive engagement, regulatory monitoring, and developing initiatives that support market accessibility and mitigate risk.You will be an integral member of the Global Logistics/Global Trade Operations team and report to the Senior Director of Transportation and Trade Operations.The Role:Manage international import/export operations and troubleshoot issues in international trade and transportation.Provide customs and trade operations support in the United States and internationally.Develop strategies and actionable plans for compliant and efficient international movement of products.Engage with internal stakeholders to provide consultation on compliance obligations.Interface with freight forwarders, US government officials, customs brokers, and customers on import/export regulations.Manage operational tasks and problem-solving as situations arise.Design a global customs brokerage and logistics partner program.Responsible for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to drive process improvement.Evaluate new government and trade compliance requirements for standard operating procedures.Partner with the legal team on regulatory changes impacting the business.Serve as a regional functional expert in Global Trade matters.Drive improvements on cost, lead time, and process efficiency through data analytics.Build communication and training plans to ensure alignment on trade compliance processes.Collaborate with leadership and teams to create and enforce regional trade compliance.Monitor proposed changes in import/export law and assess impacts on the business.Manage daily tasks related to trade compliance governance guidance.Assist with technology and product classification, including Harmonized Commodity Codes.Proactively identify and drive automation and process improvement initiatives.Experience & ExpertiseDeep technical knowledge of global customs, import/export topics, and regulations.Approximately 10 or more years of related work experience in industry or a major importer/exporter.Stay informed on global trade developments to identify savings and compliance improvements.Excellent team leader with strong organizational skills and ability to cultivate relationships.Flexibility to work with global colleagues; foreign language skills a plus.Experience with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and similar organizations.Experience managing/supervising teams.Strong analytical and communication skills.Able to execute multiple projects successfully.Bachelor’s/Master’s degree and a US Customs broker license.Knowledge of Global Trade Management system is a plus.Capability and CompetenciesProven Trusted Partner with authenticity, empathy, integrity, and accountability.Invests in team and stakeholder relationships.Encourages cross-functional collaboration.Creates a respectful and safe environment.Qualifications

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:Minimum 8-12 years of experience in Trade Controls and Compliance.Outstanding leadership and influencing skills.Ability to discern strategic insights from data analysis.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Proven self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Intellectual curiosity and ability to navigate ambiguous circumstances.Ability to present findings accurately to management.Required Education and TrainingMinimum Bachelor’s degree in International Trade / Supply Chain Management or equivalent.Certified US Export Compliance Officer is an advantage.Preferred Skills and ExperienceProficiency with Oracle's Global Trade Management Systems is beneficial.Additional Information
