These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

The primary role of ‘Fuel Services Procurement – Manager’ is to source and gain real TCO savings for Fuel Services, either through direct savings gained from aggregating sourcing volumes or savings gained from other TCO cost reduction initiatives, while ensuring that our customer needs are met. This position will identify, develop and lead strategic initiatives that support year-over-year improvements in total cost of ownership, quality and service by working closely with Fuel Technical Operations, Airport Operations and suppliers. This role will also be responsible for both into-plane fueling and fuel storage operations, to include contracts. This position will serve as a United representative on multiple airline fuel maintenance and operation committees. The Manager will participate in fuel governing bodies to ensure the safe, efficient administration and operation of airport fuel systems while representing United where we hold leadership positions and voting seats.

Responsible for sourcing of jet fuel services, primarily into-plane fueling services and fuel storage at major airports

Participates in developing purchasing and operational strategies that reduce United’s total cost of fuel services by conducting analysis of market trends and potential suppliers along with opportunities to demonstrate changes in processes, systems and products/service to gain cost savings

Represent United on various airport fuel committees or corporations, responsible for the management of airport fuel facilities

Participate in facility development, engineering projects, compliance, cost sharing, maintenance, operating agreements and airport lease negotiations

Lead into-plane, fuel storage and ground support equipment fuel supply contracts

Work directly with key suppliers and Airport Operations personnel, to include facilitating supplier management activities across divisions

This role requires 80% travel (about 30% during winter months)

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Bachelors Degree

5 years in Fuel Management, Procurement, Finance/Accounting or Airport Operations

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts and strategic procurement process

Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong negotiation skills

Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects of various scale

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance

Airline fuel-related work experience

Project Management experience

Change agent and advocate of innovative solutions to meet the business needs
