What you will be doing:

The Senior Project Manager/Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing project management and technical engineering expertise to a variety of projects ranging from moderate to major scope as well as planning, scheduling, conducting, and/or coordinating all the detailed phases of a project. This position will also oversee and direct the personnel working on the projects and monitor project performance, providing guidance and direction to assigned staff as needed. Job Responsibilities:

Direct entire and discipline specific portion of engineering projects including direction of project team staff.

Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the design activities and personnel assigned to the project.

Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in either a part of a project of major scope or the total project of moderate scope.

Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice as well as a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

Initiate and complete the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on schedule and within budget.

Prepare work plans, coordinate multi-discipline projects, monitor of schedules and budgets, attend project client and team meetings to assist with coordination and development of project requirements.

Manage and lead the overall project including technical, financial, and client satisfaction.

Establish scope, work plan, and work schedule and ensure this is communicated to project staff and managers.

Maintain project action plan.

Must have a thorough understanding of the responsibilities to both the Company and the client as set forth by the contractual agreement.

Assist in developing, implementing, and administering operational procedures, controls, and administrative systems necessary to meet contractual obligations.

Assure conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring that specifications, drawings and other work be reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.

Maintain effective liaison with client as needed.

Maintain and continue to develop strong technical knowledge in the use, and application of current technologies, design techniques, procedures, regulations, materials, and specifications. Monitor trade/discipline advances and recommend training for department.

Provide drawing detail development and prepare scalable plans and diagrams.

Process shop drawings, respond to RFI's, prepare and edit specifications, create charts and schedules, and develop cost estimates.

Conduct regular project review sessions with appropriate personnel to monitor the continuing progress of the project.

Perform QA/QC procedures and enforce quality control procedures throughout project development.

Assure compliance with corporate procedures relevant to project design and implementation. Assist with technical solutions to construction problem.

Conduct studies and develop reports for special technical projects.

Lead project acquisition efforts in assigned market.

Establish and maintain critical relationships with existing and potential client decision makers.

Use existing business contacts to develop new project opportunities.

Put together teaming arrangements with other firms in an effort to win work.

Participate in Go/NoGo decisions.

Lead proposal efforts in conjunction with Business Development personnel.

Represent Buchart Horn at professional society events and conferences.

Experience, Technical Skills, and Attributes:

Graduation from an ABET college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.

Licensed Professional Engineer.

Louisiana Department of Transportation (LADOT) project management experience a plus.

Louisiana Department of Transportation (LADOT) public outreach and environmental processes a plus.

Thorough understanding of Civil Engineering principles, practices, and tools.

Knowledge and experience using computer aided design and drafting software (MicroStation) a plus.

Ability to identify and solve complex problems.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to be creative, analytical, detail oriented and accurate.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Occasional prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Must be able to travel to various project sites.

Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas while following safety regulations.
