Job SummaryBetter Being is looking for a Payroll Director to supervise and coordinate payroll activities, ensuring compliance and accuracy, as well as prepare and distribute regular management and accounting reports. The Payroll Director will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Essential Functions

Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing, data, troubleshooting and analyzing technical issues, creating and maintaining scheduled employee data audit reports, and advising management on process improvement.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.

Assist with information gathering for annual audits, valuations, compliance testing, government filings, and other duties related to HR system administration.

Analyze workflow process and design and recommend process improvements.

Register for tax accounts and comply with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations and laws.

Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for management.

Ensure that all payroll accounts (pay and deductions elements, etc.) are completely and accurately reconciled between the payroll system and the accounting system in a timely manner.

Resolving payroll related problems or issues as appropriate and in accordance with standard accounting principles, procedures, and State and Federal rules and regulations. Develop or revise processes as necessary.

Supervise a staff in the processing of the payrolls, including, but not limited to, ensuring that all pay actions are properly approved, all deduction elements are accurate, and all payments to federal and state agencies and vendors are made in a timely manner.

Coordinate interface of data with external systems and vendors.

Interact with employees to answer questions, update data, etc.

Mentor and coach through a participative team-oriented learning environment to ensure high productivity and well understood payroll principles.

Additional Responsibilities

Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or related field preferred with five plus years’ experience in Payroll/HRIS required. Managerial experience preferred.

Knowledge of Federal, state and international wage and hour laws.

Solid computer skills, knowledge of HR, benefits, payroll laws and procedures, and the ability to understand technical documentation.

Experience utilizing and maintaining an HRIS system Workday/ADP strongly preferred.

Must demonstrate the ability to plan and manage multiple projects.

Attention to detail; problem analysis and problem resolution skills; strong team player.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of SQL and Cognos Analytics in order to develop and run reports for Senior Management; confidentiality is mandatory.

Experience in a manufacturing work environment preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.

Employee must exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to ten lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
