Senior Manager, Business DevelopmentThis Business Development role is a client-facing sales position that will develop new data commercialization business opportunities within the Walmart Data Ventures organization. You will be responsible for identifying and generating external leads, then moving these opportunities through the sales pipeline from prospect to contract.Key ResponsibilitiesAn individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.Utilize a consultative approach to evaluate new business opportunities, deal-sizing, analyze competitors, recommend strategies, and lead proposal/face-to-face negotiations to win new businessResponsible for developing a plan to meet or exceed a sales quotaProactively prospect into strategic Walmart supplier organizations via cold call, email, and social strategiesFollow through with all aspects of the sales cycle – from initial prospecting, managing internal communication, reviewing deal terms, to contract executionConsistently deliver superior customer service to partners, and be seen as a trusted thought partner demonstrating the Walmart valuesProvide guidance and forecasting to leadership on all pipeline sales opportunitiesPrepare and deliver effective presentations and go-to-market proposals to senior level decision makersBe a subject matter expert and evangelist of the Walmart Luminate collaborative portal solutionsUnderstand our buyer personas and the needs and “pains” of our target marketUpdate and keep detailed notes in our CRM (Salesforce)Brainstorming and executing new strategies to attract our target marketKeeping up to date on trends and news from the industry, our competitors, and our target marketEnsures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open-Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.Key QualificationsAn individual must be proficient in each of the competencies listed below to successfully perform the responsibilities of this position.Proven work experience as a Business Development Executive, Sales Account Executive, or similar roleBS or BA degree in Marketing, Business, or related fieldHands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)Track record of achieving or exceeding specific sales quotasExperience in developing, negotiating, and closing multi-year SaaS and data commercialization contractsExtensive professional network and contacts within CPG and RetailPassion for data analytics and some experience as a business user/consumer of data/analytics idealFamiliarity with MS Office Suite (analyzing spreadsheets and charts)Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)Understanding of sales performance metricsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong time management and organization skillsSelf-starter who has a desire to learn, grow, and excel in their roleEntry RequirementsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or related field and 3 years’ experience in business development, market development, product development, or relevant area OR 5 years’ experience in business development, market development, product development, or related areaPreferred Qualifications• Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or related field• 6+ years’ sales experience in SaaS, data, analytics, and associated services• 6+ years’ sales experience selling to CPG and Retail• 6+ years’ sales experience in new business development
