We are an innovative team of engineers, designers and estimators that supports complex projects throughout the company. The Civil Estimator will be responsible for developing the civil construction estimate within the estimate schedule and collaborate with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that meet client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.Responsibilities

Review and interpret the client’s Request for Proposal (specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop detailed cost estimates for power generation, Carbon Capture, and other EPC projects across the United States.Review and coordinate preliminary site plans developed by civil engineer and designer to be used for quantity takeoffs.Ability to train entry level estimators to perform accurate quantity takeoffs for earthwork, site surfacing, underground piping and drainage.Develop subcontract and material bid packages with our in-house procurement team. Responding to bidder questions and facilitate final bid evaluations.Identify bid qualifications, risks, and assumptions along with quantities and pricing ensuring estimates and proposals are performed in accordance with company practices and standards to make sure the estimate basis is well documented.Participate in estimate reviews with department heads, estimate managers and executive management to explain the basis of the civil estimate.Facilitate estimate comparisons between self-perform estimates and subcontractor quotes or second team estimates.Utilize basic software packages for computer-aided design and construction estimating software.Supporting the proposal team with Civil specific content for moderate to large projects.Ability to understand civil construction methods and be able to clearly communicate the means and methods used to price an estimate.Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent requiredAt least 4 years' minimum relevant experience in Construction EstimatingStrong background in general civil-site designs, drainage systems, grading, utilities and roads/pavingCan coordinate with civil designers to ensure adequate drawings are used for quantity take offs.Works collaboratively with other disciplines and managers in solving problems.Supports proposal team and department in a positive and productive manner. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectivesServes as project/discipline point of contact for external and internal customersAble to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations to meet deadlinesOther Requirements:Work productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.Perform work safely and effectively.
