Position Overview:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks including general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable processing, payroll support, and financial reporting. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within the finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

Process vendor invoices and payments.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices.

Accounts Receivable:

Generate and send out invoices to customers.

Process customer payments and apply them to appropriate accounts.

Follow up on outstanding receivables and manage collections.

General Ledger:

Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.

Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Payroll Support:

Assist in processing payroll and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Maintain employee payroll records and handle payroll-related inquiries.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and distribute financial reports as required.

Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Other Duties:

Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Provide support to other team members as needed.

Maintain confidentiality of all financial data.

Qualifications:

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).

Other Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in payroll processing.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal accounting and tax regulations.

Familiarity with financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP).

Work Environment:

Office setting with standard office equipment.

Occasional remote work may be available based on company policy.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for extended periods.

Occasional lifting of office supplies and materials.
