Network Engineer
to support the Data Migration and syndication efforts within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO).
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:Design, implement, and maintain a secure and scalable network infrastructure, including Cisco routers and switches, F5 load balancers, and Palo Alto firewallsPerform network configuration, upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and securityTroubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, particularly with IRIS Enterprise Cache Protocol (ECP) and external networksConduct network monitoring and analysis using tools like NetScout, WireShark, and Splunk to identify and address anomalies, ensuring encryption and data integrityConfigure and manage firewall rules, VPNs, and security policies, including regular updates and firmware upgradesManage and optimize server load balancing, SSL offloading, and certificate managementEnsure high availability, redundancy, and failover capabilities across network systems, including active/passive configurationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to align network solutions with business and technical requirementsRequirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco, F5, and Palo Alto productsIn-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VPNsExperience with network security practices, including firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryptionProficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools such as NetScout, WireShark, and SplunkExperience with VA or federal organizations is a plusFamiliarity with Data Migration and Syndication within the VA preferredAbility to travel as needed and obtain a government clearanceAdditional Qualifications:
Experience with VA or other federal organizations.Familiarity with Data Migration and Syndication within the VA.Ability to obtain a Government clearance.AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or any related certification.Benefits:
