This position is located in the DEA, Largo, MD (SFL3) & Miami, FL (SFL4). The purpose of this position is to serve as ALD of a forensic field laboratory.Duties

Your typical work assignments may include:Directing, coordinating, and overseeing work through subordinate supervisors. Advising staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.Supervising all aspects of the laboratory's quality assurance program to include proficiency testing. Managing the laboratory's Quality Assurance Manager who provides oversight and management of the laboratory's quality system.Providing key advice to the Laboratory Director in formulating policy to meet goals and objectives of the laboratory.Maintaining liaison with counterparts in federal, state, and local laboratories and interacting with Assistant Special Agents in Charge of DEA, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection offices regarding forensic science matters and law enforcement needs.Salary

$153,088 - $191,900/yearConditions of Employment

Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. Applicants must meet ONE of the following qualification requirements: (A) Degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by coursework in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR (B) Combination of education and experience -- coursework equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.Minimum Qualifications:

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicants must have

one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 Federal grade level

in performing a full range of duties to include managing a laboratory system quality assurance program; developing policies, programs, and objectives for forensic science services; and overseeing administrative areas, including financial/operating plan development, data system management, and personnel management.Competencies:
