Job SummaryThe Associate Director for Leadership and Outreach is a part of the Leadership Team of Student Governance and Leadership, participates in staff supervision, setting department goals, and ensures continuity and quality customer service between University departments and community. Additionally, serves as a professional advisor who is responsible for organizing, directing and maintaining the day-to-day operations of marketing and communications, and assessment in conjunction and advisement of elected and appointed Associated Students of the University of Utah ( ASUU ) student leaders. This role acts as a liaison between internal and external constituencies involved with department services, programs, and activities and will report to the Director of Student Governance and Leadership The role will report to the Director of Student Governance and Leadership The role works on campus (in-person) but is eligible for one remote work day per week. The role is also approved for remote work during times of surge telework. In addition to general University benefits, this role may also be eligible to receive fun perks such as tickets to University Athletic Events (Football, and more).

ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities The Associate Director for Leadership and Outreach is expected to fulfill all duties listed below in addition to other duties as assigned. Marketing & Outreach 1. Advises the ASUU Marketing board, including working with student leaders for all types of outreach mediums (photography, videography, graphic design, and more). Advisement includes helping students strategize, implement, innovate and evaluate all advertising, public relations, and communications regarding ASUU and its activities and events to students, faculty, staff, families, and potential students. 2. Oversee, implement and evaluate all advertising, marketing, public relations, and communications regarding ASUU and its activities and events to students, faculty, staff, families, and potential students in conjunction with ASUU leadership. This includes advising marketing students on projects and coordinating the creation of promotional materials such as photography, videography, and graphic design. 3. Analyzing the effectiveness of outreach efforts and adjusting strategies as needed to improve engagement. This includes innovating ASUU’s marketing strategy to go beyond traditional print and social media, incorporating new and emerging ideas and techniques and ensuring consistent and effective messaging across all platforms and channels. 4. Establish and maintain collaborations across campus and in the community to facilitate important logistics across relevant university departments that manage business analytics, IT services, and Student Affairs assessment and evaluation, university marketing, and others, as well as external vendors. 5. Oversees the design and maintenance of the ASUU website. 6. Manage ASUU Volunteers, connecting students at large with opportunities to get involved with ASUU . Student Leadership and Development: 1. Directly supervises the Programming Advisor, and provides any needed support to student programming boards, including high level risk management assessment and protocols. 2. Advise the ASUU First Year Council, ASUU Student Resources Board, and other ASUU boards as needed 3. Manage annual student leader orientation and ongoing training and assessment of learning outcomes 4. Provide leadership and guidance for student-led participation to improve and deepen the quality of ASUU programs and initiatives 5. Provide student leaders with rich leadership education and development opportunities through regular trainings and workshops 6. Review and coordinate student leader training on best practices, institutional policies, and Redbook requirements 7. Maintain relationships with campus partners and departments; this may include scheduling regular collaborative opportunities and socials. 8. Manage hiring, on-boarding and off-boarding processes for student leaders in collaboration with Human Resources 9. May be required to provide office support, assist students and customer service opportunities, assist in the revision and implementation of policies and procedures, and to participate as staff representation on existing university committees. Student Engagement Assessment & Analytics 1. Serves as the Assessment Liaison for SGL , overseeing assessment, evaluation, and analytics efforts in conjunction with the Assessment & Analytics Office. This includes but is not limited to: strategic planning conversations and program evaluations, survey creation and distribution, data evaluation, learning outcome development and measurement, and education of shareable data both internally and externally. 2. Assists with the implementation of strategic initiatives within ASUU aimed at enhancing student engagement. Facilitates data collection and analysis for data-informed student engagement decisions. Assisting with data storytelling to highlight key achievements, including projects such as the annual report. 3. Additional duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Five years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a variety of constituencies including students, parents, faculty/staff, and community organizations is required. The incumbent must be capable of prioritizing and managing several tasks concurrently in a fast paced environment. Strong knowledge of graphic design, social media and marketing strategy. Knowledge of technology, computer proficiency and a commitment to supporting the academic mission and advocating for students are further required.
