The Evaluation and Institutional Assessment (EIA) Assistant Director will guide efforts associated with evaluation plan development and implementation in partnership with institutional and external collaborators. This individual will lead/co-facilitate training of faculty, students, and staff other professionals in evaluation methods for the institution. Additionally, the position is responsible for strategic plan development and execution associated with the Morehouse School of Medicine, its institutionally designated Prevention Research Center (PRC) as well as the EIA unit through which these activities will be executed. The role will incorporate both Evaluation and Institutional Assessment responsibilities and analysis and evaluation of institutional initiatives. Building upon community-engaged research and practice through mentorship, this position will collaborate and participate in activities of the PRC and will also serve as center evaluator.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Health with a Social Behavioral Sciences.

Evaluation of mixed methods emphasis Record or demonstrated potential for scholarly publications and presentations Demonstrated expertise in evaluation planning and design.

Record of accomplishment and leadership in collaborative public health research.

Evidence of experience in community-based and academic training and teaching Leadership in writing project proposals and work plans Evidence of the application of community-based participatory research and social marketing methodology.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years’ experience supervising or mentoring staff on program evaluation techniques and practices.

A strong history of interdisciplinary public health research and or practice to support all existing projects and an expanding research agenda.

Ability to work with diverse constituents and demonstration of a track record of community involvement and research translation to both academic and community audiences Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research design, methods, and data analysis.

Job DutiesPOSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The EIA will work directly under the supervision and direction of the Unit Director. This will include, at minimum, two regularly scheduled meetings per month with the Director to discuss progress, deliverables and to provide mentorship and direction associated with their responsibilities. In this capacity, the EIA will collaborate with both internal (PRC and institutional programs, centers, institutes and initiatives) and external funders and partners to carry out evaluation studies with minimal direction and within time and budgetary constraints as projected in partnership with and approved by the Director towards efficiency and accountability.

Evaluate institutional initiatives based on metrics and outcomes required for documenting Institutional Effectiveness and alignment of the PRC with the strategic plan.

Supervise and collaborate with evaluation staff and students in the design and implementation of evaluation grant and contracts.

Assign assistance to other Morehouse School of Medicine staff and faculty in evaluation related activities.

Provide effective evaluation teaching and training through lecture series developed to increase the capacity of Morehouse School of Medicine faculty, staff, residents, interns (Master’s, Medical and Doctoral students) and community constituents in the areas of program evaluation methods.

Operate as a Prevention Research Center (PRC) evaluator to co-lead the Data Monitoring and Evaluation committee of the PRC Community Coalition Board and plan evaluation activities, including conducting a community health needs assessment.

Build community-engaged/ participatory research and evaluation trajectory through development of peer-reviewed publications with a minimum of two developed and submitted each year in partnership with Center faculty or staff.

Identify and/or collaborate in the procurement of extramural funding with the target of procurement of at least three (3) grants.

Provide public health and program evaluation mentorship to PRC public health and medical students.

Engage in professional and community service activities both through the Center and in surrounding communities.
