POSITION SUMMARY
Manage/supervise all accounting and casino financial operations and activities. To accurately and promptly produce financial schedules and analysis of revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures. Responsible for the development and maintenance of labor control activities; ensures accurate processing of payroll and all applicable taxes and reports are filed in accordance with federal, state and local law. Assists in the establishment of production standards and goals; assists in developing departmental policies and procedures for the accomplishment of business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the coordination and preparation of the annual Business Plan and the preparation of financial schedules supporting the monthly operating reports.
Ensures for the effective management of the following casino and accounting operations: Revenue accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and count team, guest services/cage, purchasing, and IT.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Encourages staff to consistently demonstrate a general awareness of payroll and general ledger activity at all times.
Performs all responsibilities in compliance with: various federal, state, and local regulations and changes in regulations, the Colorado Limited Gaming Act, and departmental policies and procedures.
Coordinates monthly accounting close cycle at property level.
Coordinates financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Analyzes variances to budget and forecast with follow-up to team leaders
Ensures company has adequate internal controls.
Manages capital project expenditures with purchasing, finance, and other leaders.
Provides financial analysis and support of various projects and decisions
Responsible for the financial analysis for the company, budgeting and forecasting, state gaming.
Statistical reporting, and managing of Capital Expenditures.
Manages the various internal and external audit processes during the fiscal year, including but not limited to the Division of Gaming audits, Colorado State sales & use tax audits, payroll and tip audits, compliance audits etc.
Ensures accurate and timely filing of all casino and finance reports; payroll, state gaming taxes and supporting documentation, casino revenue reports, W2-G payments, property tax returns, and the filing of various annual returns.
Within the realm of the responsibility of the job, maintains a clean and safe work environment. Performs duties in compliance with safety procedures, which includes use of safety equipment.
Complies with established security policies and procedures. Informs supervisor of any concerns. Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed and directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software systems.
Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of mathematical computations, statistical reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
Demonstrated experience performing with specific deadlines or under pressure.
Demonstrated experience problem solving, and organizing and prioritizing work.
Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills. Strong Excel skills a must.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Required.
CPA / graduate degree preferred
or
the equivalent in education and experience. Eight (8) or more years of recent and related accounting experience, with five (5) years of managerial experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Must be able to obtain a Colorado Limited Gaming Key License.
