is seeking a
Litigation Counsel
to support the commercial, regulatory, and employment functions of its diverse business operations, including farming, food, beverage, and other entrepreneurial ventures. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of litigation experience, preferably from a top-tier U.S. law firm, and will independently handle various litigation matters. This role also requires providing legal counseling on a wide range of issues, including commercial disputes, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and employment law. The position offers the opportunity to counsel a high-growth enterprise with innovative business practices.Key Responsibilities:
Litigation Management:Litigate commercial, regulatory, and employment matters independently with minimal supervision.Perform key litigation tasks such as:
Conducting legal research and drafting briefs, motions, and pleadings.Interviewing witnesses and conducting investigations.Drafting and responding to discovery requests.Taking and defending depositions.Mediating and negotiating settlements.Conducting arbitrations and trials as a first or second chair.
Legal Counseling:Provide legal advice and counsel to the company’s farming, food, beverage, and other business operations.Advise on a broad range of legal issues, including tort, contract disputes, intellectual property, commercial matters, and U.S. food and beverage regulatory issues.Counsel clients on labor and employment matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Client Relationship Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients, advising them of legal risks, rights, and obligations.Provide forward-thinking, outside-the-box legal solutions to business problems in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.Keep clients informed of changes in law, business practices, and risks, offering proactive legal strategies to support business growth.Job Requirements:
Experience:
3-6 years of litigation experience in a top-tier U.S. law firm, with a focus on commercial, regulatory, and employment litigation.Proven ability to independently handle all aspects of litigation, from discovery to trial.Experience counseling clients on commercial and regulatory legal matters.Experience in intellectual property, food and beverage regulatory issues, and labor law is preferred.
Skills:
Strong legal research and writing skills with the ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively counsel clients and negotiate legal matters.Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve complex legal issues.Ability to manage multiple litigation cases simultaneously and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.Client-focused mindset with a business-oriented approach to solving legal challenges.Fluent Spanish speaker is a plus.
Education & Certifications:
Juris Doctor (JD):
Graduation from an accredited law school.
Bar Admission:
Must be a member in good standing of the California State Bar.
