Selby Jennings has partnered with a leading hedge fund specializing in equity investments, who is looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented Associate with 2-4 years of buy-side experience. As an Associate, you will play a key role in supporting the Portfolio Manager by performing deep fundamental analysis, generating investment ideas, and monitoring portfolio performance. This is a great opportunity to grow within a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment. They are looking for experience in either Consumer, Energy, or Japanese equities sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct fundamental research on potential investment opportunities.Assist in building and maintaining detailed financial models, performing valuation analyses, and forecasting company performance.Support the investment team in idea generation for both long and short positions by analyzing market trends, company fundamentals, and competitive dynamics.Prepare and present investment memos and reports for internal discussions with portfolio managers.Monitor existing investments, track relevant financial metrics, and update models based on company developments and quarterly earnings.Stay informed of relevant market news, earnings releases, industry trends, and other financial data that could impact portfolio holdings.Conduct due diligence on new investment ideas, engaging with management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts.Collaborate closely with senior analysts and portfolio managers in decision-making processes.

Requirements:

2-4 years of buy-side experience in equity research, asset management, or a hedge fund setting.Strong proficiency in financial modeling, valuation methods (DCF, comparables, etc.), and fundamental analysis.Solid understanding of equity markets and financial statements.Proven ability to generate investment ideas and articulate them clearly.Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field. CFA or MBA preferred, but not required.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in long/short equity strategies or sector-specific expertise (Consumer, Energy, or Japanese equities).
