SUMMARY:
The Associate Director will be responsible for financial planning, analytics and reporting in support of the Development Chemistry and Manufacturing Operations. This individual will collaborate with functional leaders and Finance to understand the business drivers that impact the financials, define and track key performance metrics, and build analytical frameworks to assist function leaders in making financial and operating decisions that will support and enable the company's continued growth. As a key finance point of contact for the Dev Chem and Manufacturing Groups, this person will be responsible for ensuring all finance data is readily available and easily understood by functional management. This person will need to show good judgment and the ability to influence leaders outside of the finance function while making effective decisions. This person will support the monthly and quarterly close process as well as forecasting and long-range, strategic financial planning activities. This role will report to Head of Manufacturing Finance with a dotted line into the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform and manage processes related to month-end and quarter-end close, including work performed to inform accruals, variance analysis, and management reporting
Provide the business financial updates and reports including budget tracking information as required
Work with department heads on budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
Help build forward-looking predictive financial models and tools to support Development Chemistry and Manufacturing
Manage inventory valuations and inventory controls
Provide leadership direction and influence business partners by proactively providing recommendations, supported by strong financial analysis and models to help identify opportunities in strategic decision making, operational efficiency and productivity
Provide financial and strategic insights, and constructive problem solving, to support new product introductions into manufacturing initiatives
Provide capital investment analysis
Maintain and track invoicing for work performed at multiple contract organizations against approved budget
Assist in external partner requests and pricing
Work with accounts payable to ensure timely invoicing and reconciliation of work performed
Prepare monthly inventory valuations and conduct SOX controls
Understand and review lot cost buildups (i.e. product costing)
Conduct and prepare annual API pricing for partner work
Prepare annual inventory insurance estimates
Establish operating KPIs measuring performance to budget and forecast
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
8+ years financial planning and variance analysis experience, preferably in biotechnology
Experience in manufacturing and cost accounting
Proven ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
Organized, detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines on high-volume deliverables
Strong interpersonal skills and experience building successful cross-functional partnerships and relationships (at all levels)
Excellent communication skills and experience tailoring messaging as needed for varying levels of audience
Demonstrated project management skills
Able and interested in providing “hands on” cross-functional leadership
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, financial systems
Able to work effectively in an intense, fast paced work environment
