Under the supervision of the Director of the ONDAS Student Center in the Office of Teaching & Learning, the Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director in developing and implementing research-based mentoring programs, workshops, and other learning support opportunities for first-generation college students and other minoritized student populations in the ONDAS Student Center.The Assistant Director oversees the daily operations, supervises undergraduate students, supports Center volunteers, and communicates regularly with ONDAS Student Center users. The Assistant Director cultivates relationships with students, staff, faculty, and personnel across campus and helps to coordinate activities with other campus units and student organizations. The Assistant Director also oversees designs, editing, production, and circulation of print and web material for all center activities and supports evaluation and assessment of ONDAS Student Center activities.Specific Responsibilities Include:Programs and Workshops

Organizes and coordinates activities related to programs and workshops offered through the Center by academic departments, Student Affairs offices, student organizations, and peer mentors. Develops and oversees workshops for UCSB students, staff, and faculty, addressing various goals including facilitating student transition to UCSB, creating community opportunities, and providing assistance with academic skills.Mentoring & Training

Supervises a staff of undergraduate peer mentors, provides support and guidance to Center volunteers, and is responsible for hiring, education, training, and development of the peer mentors.Coordinating Services

Works closely with relevant campus offices to arrange drop-in services and programming in the Center, including managing Faculty Office Hours and collaborations with other student services.Campus and Public Relations

Undertakes efforts to raise visibility of the Center and increase student participation, including overseeing marketing and media initiatives.Data, Evaluation, and Assessment

Oversees and maintains data collection of Center usage and activities to measure efficacy of programs and services.Administrative and Logistical

Responds to and manages Center inquiries and provides excellent service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors.The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in education or related fieldPreferred Qualifications

Master's degree or above in higher education or related fieldsAt least 2 years of experience in student initiatives, programming, and development or training in a related fieldExperience supporting, mentoring, and working with a diverse student populationStrong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasksApplication Requirements
