The School Principal is responsible for managing all of the administrative officers and educational leaders of the schools vested with supervisory and administrative authority over the educational programs and all activities in the school buildings. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.Functions

Establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.Manages, evaluates, and supervises school operations and functions consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school.Implements School Board Policy, state statutes, and federal regulations, as they pertain to the school district.Supervises the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis.Encourages the use of community resources, interprets the school program for the community, and maintains communication with community members.Ensures that instructional objectives are aligned with state frameworks and serves as an instructional leader.Facilitates the development and implementation of an effective staff development program.Utilizes effective communication techniques with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.Performs other duties as assigned.Dimensions

The formal education equivalent to a master's degree from an accredited educational institution in education, special education, psychology, or a related field; plus six years of work experience in an educational setting. Must be licensed as a certified and/or licensed Administrative Level Educator. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
