Site Therapeutics aims to map — down to the nucleotide — the genetic determinants driving immune cell function in human health and disease and to use that information to develop first-in-class small molecule therapeutics for autoimmune disease. Leveraging technology developed in the Marson Lab at UCSF/Gladstone, we are conducting high-throughput functional genomics in human cells to build a blueprint for fine-tuned control of immune cell function. This detailed map will lead to the development of new therapeutics across modalities for a range of immune-related conditions. We are backed by The Column Group, a leading life sciences venture capital firm.We are seeking a passionate Scientist / Senior Scientist with a strong interest in adaptive immunology and functional genomics to join our launch team. Our Immunology position will be a part of a team leading efforts to systematically map residues governing disease-relevant phenotypes. The primary responsibilities of the Scientist / Senior Scientist, Immunology will be:Prioritization of screening phenotypes in primary immune cells with therapeutic translatability to human autoimmune diseaseDevelopment of immunological, biological and biochemical assays to screen and validate novel targets and their associated mechanismsOptimization of primary human T cell and other lymphocyte or myeloid cultureFlow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) of primary human cellsDesign and optimization of high-throughput base editing screens to identify sites on proteins with functional consequences in autoimmune relevant phenotypesDevelopment of novel protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with culturing, differentiating, and screening primary human immune cellsClose collaboration with a team of Scientists and Research Associates to stick to tight timelines while creating a large map of genomic sites impacting immune cellsStay up-to-date with emerging scientific literature and share your ideas liberallyStrong organizational and communication skills are required. This position represents a unique opportunity to lead cutting-edge genetic editing research at the frontier of human immunology and to have an outsized impact on success in the dynamic, rapidly evolving research environment of an early stage startup.Qualifications:Ph.D. in immunology or related field, and 0-3 or more years of laboratory (industrial or postdoctoral) experienceExperience with immunological assay development and flow cytometry and/or FACS, high-throughput preferredExperience uncovering new mechanisms of action for known immunology-associated targets and/or validating mechanisms of action for novel immunology-associated targetsExperience with mammalian cell culture, primary cells preferredExcellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research prioritiesEvidence of scientific excellence and impact as illustrated by scientific publications and presentationsAbility to keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and resultsAbility to work independently and as a member of a research teamAbility to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlinesSelf-starter with an interest in building a team from the ground up at a brand new start-upWe offer:In addition to a competitive compensation package with stock options, we offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, plus a 401K and 3% employer contribution for employees and their families. We believe that a diverse, open, and inclusive environment and culture is key to our success. We will not be influenced in recruiting, hiring, promoting or any other employment practices by race, color, citizenship status, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, age, religion, physical or mental disability, medical or genetic condition, marital status, veteran status, or any other characteristics protected under applicable federal, state and local laws.
