Job Description
The Residential Life, Housing & Food Services at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic professionals to join our Resident Director team. The Resident Director is responsible for facilitating and assessing the Residential Curriculum; training and supervising student staff; promoting restorative justice through educational conversations; developing hall governments; reporting repairs and maintenance needs; and completing administrative tasks for the assigned residential area. Additional administrative assignments may include license appeals, staff training and selection, leadership training, programming committees, and other departmental and university committees. Summer duties may include assisting with summer housing, conferences, room assignments, program planning for the academic year, and/or other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director.
The Resident Director maintains full-time office hours, in addition to responding to emergency/crisis situations
24 hours-a-day and 7 days-a-week.
Weekend duty is split among the professional live-in staff and graduate students (when applicable).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience
OR
Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.
Related Experience:
Management and supervision; volunteer or leadership experience, event planning and implementation OR experience in two (2) of the following areas: staff selection/training/evaluation, organizational advising and programming, student conduct, academic initiatives, diversity initiatives, assessment, conference management, student development theory, leasing and marketing, residential/apartment management, crisis management or general business/administrative functions.
Licensure
Nevada Driver’s License and completion of University Driver Safety Course.
Schedule or Travel Requirements
Variable work schedule.
Responding to nights and weekend duty calls as needed.
Ability to return to campus to deal with critical incidents.
Supervise night and weekend programming/events/activities.
Occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree preferred in college student development, student personnel, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution.
Experience with living learning communities and/or theme housing.
Multicultural experience and/or training.
Experience with emergency response or on-call responsibilities.
Compensation Grade
Administrative Faculty – B. Salary is competitive and commensurate with related education and experience.
