JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, assist with managing the communications and marketing for the college, including media and community relations, online (GC website) and social platforms; collaborate with the President, Admissions, Institutional Advancement, and Alumni Engagement and the academic departments on internal and external marketing and communications efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote the college to and maintain relations with local news media and city organizations; promote stories to and fulfill requests for information from local media; track online coverage on the college website; seek ways to increase and improve colleges earned media to enhance brand equity and recognition in the market.
Create well-crafted news releases and media alerts; find and promote creative story ideas to promote the college, particularly those in support of its strategic goals of increasing enrollment and fundraising.
Oversee general website maintenance, including content creation, updates to the college calendar, adding new pages, and other related site maintenance.
Assist with maintaining campus-wide, brand-consistent guidelines for all vehicles of delivery such as web and print content. Collaborate with faculty/staff in various departments to ensure their sites are in compliance and, when necessary, work with various departments so they are in compliance with overall website guidelines on their specific landing pages and best practices and college branding.
Create and post relevant, engaging content to the colleges social media networks and monitor/supervise those accounts across all departments.
As part of the IA and Alumni Engagement team, work with other members to craft message in print, online and in other media aimed at advancing progress toward team goals and the colleges primary strategic goals of increasing enrollment and fundraising. These duties include creating and distributing the monthly PrideLine e-mail newsletter, serve as managing-editor for the alumni magazine,

editing regular communications to the Greensboro College Society, marquee messaging and recording audio, taking photos, and shooting and editing video where appropriate.
Some weekend or evening hours may be required for events
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree required, (Masters degree preferable)
Experience: 1-2 years related experience in professional writing,communication/marketing writing, editing and project management
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to engage and collaborate with people at all organizational levels.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and operational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
Computer literacy, especially regarding work processing software, graphic development and podcast production
Ability to interact effectively with campus community and external customers
Photo and video editing preferred
Advanced knowledge of website administration (WordPress preferred)
Willingness to research, recommend and learn new technologies to further the marketing and communications goals of the college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job duties are mostly preformed indoors with some outside events coverage required. The person in this position needs to move about indoors and outdoors around the campus to attend and photograph events, meet with stakeholders to gather information, interview subjects for articles, etc.
Job duties are performed during the day with some evening, late-night and/or weekend requirements throughout the year depending upon campus events. No out-of-town travel required.
