Position SummaryThe Tech Specialist will demonstrate the following capabilities:Analyze system performance and recommend improvementsProvide support to the system administration and engineering teamUse advanced knowledge of networking principles and system administration skills to troubleshoot systems and operating systemsCommunicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and system administratorsTrain system users and other system support personnelAnalyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changesTroubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actionsOrganize and prepare detailed documentation of system performance, including service request records and analysisPerform desktop hardware and operating system set-up, imaging software loading, and antivirus updatesConduct in-depth research and evaluate the research of Technical Specialists in order to evaluate existing and future systemsProvide on-site system support post-deploymentRead and interpret engineering drawingsUnderstand SOP and SOW documentationEnsure test lab equipment is maintainedInterface with the engineering team to ensure design efficiencyInterface with internal and external customers demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skillsConduct research and development of entire systems and analyze all interoperability and constructability scenariosRead blueprints, schematics, and statements of work (SOW)Coordinate with field personnel and/or engineering team to discuss any potential installation issuesAnswer support calls to help field personnel and system administrators with any installation issues encountered on the job siteConduct research and development on new system manufacturers (i.e., access control, intrusion detection, and closed-circuit television systems)Perform all duties with minimal direct supervisionCandidate/Position Requirements:Requires 8+ years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, and/or testing of electronic security systems with a high school diploma or GEDOr Associates with 6+ years of experienceRequires substantial travel to project sites as required by customer and program manager to meet project deliverablesProficient with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling toolsQualifications/Preferred Experience:Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, 2N, Geutebruck, and/or othersWorking knowledge and/or certification for general-purpose operating systems and virtualization platforms (Windows, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, CentOS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)Familiarity with physical security designs, standard operating procedures, and security operationsWorking knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, RTP, RTSP, and others)Certification in Lenel OnGuard and Bosch Video Management System preferredAccess Control certification CCURE 9000 Access Control System, Lenel, or othersCertification in DVTel/Flir Digital Video Systems, Genetec, Milestone VMS, Axis, or othersExperience and knowledge of networks, network equipment, and administrationExperience and knowledge of virtualization and cloud environmentsCCNA, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certifications or similarExperience and skills in electronic security systems, databases, networking, and troubleshootingDemonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectivesStrong oral, written, and presentation skillsPossess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little supervisionAbilities:Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of timeSitting for extended periods of timeReach by extending hands or arms in any directionHave finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboardListen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesCommunicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understandRead and understand information and ideas presented in writingApply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make senseIdentify and understand the speech of another person
