Job Overview:

The Box Office Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while managing ticket sales and providing information to patrons at the theater’s box office. This role involves handling transactions, building shows in Tessitura, answering questions, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ticket Sales:

Process ticket purchases, exchanges, and refunds via phone, online, and in-person transactions.

Operate the box office software efficiently to manage sales and maintain accurate records.

Show Setup:

Build and configure events in Tessitura, including pricing, seating arrangements, and ticket availability.

Ensure all show details are accurate and up-to-date in the system, coordinating with the Box Office Manager and other departments as needed.

Build and update events also in Wordpress and third-party ticketing systems.

Create and update box office report schedules for management.

Assist with show build audits and verifications.

Customer Service:

Greet and assist patrons with ticketing inquiries, seating options, and event information.

Resolve customer issues and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.

Provide information about upcoming shows, seating arrangements, and special promotions.

Financial Transactions:

Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods with accuracy and integrity.

Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.

Communication:

Answer phone calls and respond to emails regarding ticketing inquiries.

Coordinate with the Box Office Manager and other departments to ensure accurate event information is communicated to patrons.

Maintain and update customer service tickets in Helpscout software.

Event Support:

Assist with the will-call desk and distribute pre-purchased tickets to patrons on event days.

Provide support for special events, including managing guest lists and seating arrangements.

Provide end of event totals in Momentus and to management.

Keep files and reports organized in Google Drive and in Momentus software.

General Administrative Tasks:

Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the box office area.

Keep up-to-date with theater policies, event details, and promotions to effectively assist patrons.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in customer service or related field is a plus.

Previous experience in a customer service role, particularly in a theater or entertainment environment, is preferred.

Proficiency in Tessitura software is strongly preferred.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to handle cash and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Proficiency with computer systems, particularly ticketing software and point-of-sale systems.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Friendly, approachable, and patient demeanor.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Punctual, reliable, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation:

Pay Rate/Range: $17-19/hour, per experience.
