Department Summary

Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing financial guidance and assistance within the guidelines of regulatory requirements. Through educational endeavors and student outreach, FAS remains a vital contributor to UNT’s enrollment success.

Position Overview

This position will serve as the Associate Director of Financial Aid over the areas of student financial aid audit and compliance, document imaging, and student financial aid grant aid administration. This position will be responsible for monitoring federal and state aid compliance, updating the Program Participation Agreement (PPA) within federal guidelines, preparing for and serving as the main point of contact for student aid audits, monitoring federal and state aid updates, and completing compliance reporting requirements. Position will supervise the financial aid imaging team and the manager over the Financial Aid Grants Team.

The position will be responsible for the intake, acknowledgement, and workflow for incoming financial aid documents and for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of federal and state grant aid programs. Position will report to the Associate Vice President over Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS), serve on the FAS Leadership Team, and assist in developing best business practices to help ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of aid programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years' of closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prior experience in higher education and the administration of financial aid programs.

Prior experience in supervising and training staff.

Ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional student aid policy.

Ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external campus partners.

Excellent analytical and business process development skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.

Job Duties:

Supervisor over the areas of Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) grant aid administration and grant aid program compliance to include direct supervision of grants team supervisor and indirect supervision of the FAS Grants Team.

Supervisor over the FAS Imaging Team to include direct supervision of the team and the processes related to the intake, acknowledgement, storing, and retention of financial aid related documents.

Serves as the University’s Financial Aid Compliance Officer. Complete required updates to UNT’s Participation Program Agreement (PPA), serve as main point of contact for financial aid audits and compliance reporting, document and maintain annual FAS assessments for internal and external reporting, maintain student aid consumer information reporting requirements, and provide office-wide training regarding FSA compliance.

Manage the TASFA awarding process to ensure, timely effective, and compliant awarding, administration, reporting, and out-going student communications.

Monitor, maintain, and manage compliance for federal, and state aid grant programs. Manage awarding of aid for institutional programs to include Emeral Eagle, Promise Partnership Programs, and Study Abroad. Maintain policy and procedures and train applicable staff regarding related policy, procedures, and advisement of students.

Coordinate the annual review of FAS Policy and Procedure Manual and the review and organization of team and/or task specific training guides.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, with occasional nights/weekends.
