The Commissioning Specialist is responsible for the deployment and integration of Air Reps’ manufacturers large air handling units and control systems to meet project requirements. This position requires a customer focused attitude with the technical knowledge to speak in depth about sequence of operations and good control practices within the data center and the commercial & industrial markets. In addition to coding and testing, responsibilities include understanding and improving customer’s control operation; troubleshooting; managing the integration to Building Automation System within the application space. The position will require consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. This position will also focus on start-up and commissioning activities with major customers in the field.Position Responsibilities:Assist installing contractors with jobsite visits before start-up and/or commissioning to make sure installation is per manufacture’s installation instructions and procedures.Review operational test procedures for customers and end clients.Get involved in troubleshooting when needed and support the warranty needs of Air Reps in the field.Work knowledge of various control systems within the data center and the C&I building.Ensuring a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed.Participate in technical meetings and handling discussions with client engineers.Perform tests, site inspections, and coordinate activities to ensure that critical cooling systems are operating optimally.Multitude of tasks, documentation, and coordination among various stakeholders, including design teams, contractors, and facility operators.Participate in training with other products that Air Reps offers, i.e., Nortek, Daikin Applied and ABB as needed to help with the need in the field.Author technical requirements that can be used by external contractors and internal manufacturing personnel.Interface with clients, subcontractors and consultant engineers to solve issues and problems to satisfaction of the client.Experience with Electric Motors (3-phase and 1-phase) Electric motor controls (contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, transformers, etc.), various types of water pumps, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), electrical component troubleshooting and understands VFDs.Experience with hardware equipment (DDC’s, PLC’s, embedded controls, temperature / humidity / pressure sensors, actuators).Apply local control systems to a variety of cooling systems including DX, CW and evaporative technologies.Read blueprints and wiring diagrams.Perform other tasks as assigned.Nature & Scope:Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.Manages projects and processes while working within a team and with limited supervision.Coaches and participates in peer reviews with team.Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.Knowledge & Skills:Ability to apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, airflow, and air conditioning theory and structural layout.Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups.Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team.Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions.Demonstrated technical skills to explain product functionality to customers.Well-developed planning, organization, analytical, and decision-making skills.Proficient computer skills, such as Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to produce clear, timely and concise documentation and have well-developed problem-solving skills.Understand, interpret, drawings, submittals and SOO.Experience with Electric Motors (3-phase and 1-phase), electric motor controls (contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, transformers, etc.), various types of water pumps, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), electrical component troubleshooting and understands VFDs.Experience:4+ years of installation and technical service experience within mechanical and/or controls industry.Education/Certification:Registered HVAC tech, controls tech, Electrician Journeyman, or related tradesperson preferred.Valid Driver’s license required.People Management: NoPhysical Requirements / Work Environment:Ability to lift 50 lbs.Ability to travel substantially within United States.A flexible schedule is required.Willingness to work in adverse working conditions (Hot/Cold, Wet).Reports To:
