Position Summary

This Graduate Assistant position is a laboratory and general office staff position to assist the students and faculty in the School of STEM for 18 hours per week. The position requires the applicant to work in person during daytime hours during the week. The applicant will also work with the Laboratory Manager.

Responsibilities

Laboratory set up, cleaning, and inventory.Coordinate upper level laboratory set up with STEM faculty.Coordinate with faculty to provide research students needed laboratory materials and set up.Strategic projects as assigned (maintain pre-health canvas page job opportunities, maintain social media STEM pages, coordinate and help set up events for honor societies or clubs, etc.).Engage in other duties as assigned to assist faculty and students in the School of STEM.

Qualifications

Must be admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University. International students are not eligible for graduate assistantships.The successful candidate for this position will possess a bachelor's degree in a biology or chemistry discipline and must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.Daytime availability (9 am – 4 pm) to work in-person in the department at least three days per week Monday through Thursday; other hours may be completed in the evening or remotely, or may be completed in-person.The applicant should enjoy working with faculty and students and be well-organized.Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks.Growth mindset in regard to self and students.Strong computer skills required.Comfort speaking and interacting with a diverse group of students and professionals.

Successful candidates should showcase their work and experience in contributing to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
