BASIC PURPOSE:Provides legal advice and counsel to the Bank on compliance matters, and administers the Bank’s Compliance function on a day-to-day basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides legal advice and counsel to the Bank on compliance matters, including compliance with FHFA regulations, fair lending requirements, and BSA/AML obligations.

Administers the primary elements of the Bank’s overall compliance program, including identifying and documenting applicable laws and regulations; identifying and documenting compliance controls; and executing the Bank’s compliance testing program.

Provides attorney support to the Bank’s fair lending compliance program.

Oversees the Bank’s BSA/AML program, including investigating suspicious incidents and SAR preparation and filing.

Oversees the process for Bank-wide remediation of FHFA examination findings.

Provides regular and special reports to board and management committees regarding the compliance program and other compliance matters.

Assists the General Counsel with Code of Conduct administration and investigation of Code matters.

Oversees the Bank-wide employee compliance training program.

Assists the General Counsel with FHFA regulatory reporting matters.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Excellent communication skills and strong academic background, including the ability to:

write clearly and informatively (email, memos, letters, reports);

negotiate with other parties;

effectively present information one-on-one or to small groups.

Ability to effectively prioritize and manage projects independently and lead projects to successful completion, often under tight time constraints and with little or no supervision.

Ability to read, understand, interpret and advise upon complex text (i.e., regulations or policy).

Ability to work effectively with team members, other lawyers, and members of management across all levels of the company.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:A law degree, admission to the State Bar of Georgia (or another state bar and agreement to gain admission to the State Bar of Georgia within one year of hire), and at least six years experience advising on regulatory compliance matters within the financial services industry, through an in-house role and/or as external counsel.

Experience with fair lending compliance programs is a significant plus.

WORK LOCATION:

Onsite with an opportunity to work remotely partially. This position may not be filled in California, either in-person or remotely.
