Headquartered in Miami, Florida with an additional office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Spearmint is comprised of over 40 seasoned industry professionals across development and corporate functions and aims to be the preeminent green merchant energy company.Spearmint develops, owns, operates, and optimizes battery energy storage systems with the aim of reducing grid volatility, increasing system resiliency, and helping minimize carbon emissions in a responsible and efficient way.What You Will DoThe ideal candidate will have work experience with an IOU, ISO or transmission engineering organization; however, candidates with experience performing similar work with a US-based IPP or power markets consulting firm will also be considered. This position will be based in Spearmint Energy’s headquarters in Miami, FL.Core Responsibilities:Lead the preparation, submission and tracking of Interconnection Requests (IR) and/or IR revisions for all projects.Act as the primary point of contact for interconnection projects, coordinating efforts between internal teams and external stakeholders.Maintain access to all applicable ISO/RTO Interconnection Applications platforms.Track all IR-related submittals and key milestone dates, providing maximum visibility to stakeholders.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of interconnection application requirements for all applicable ISO/RTOs.Support management of all ISO/RTO interconnection and associated project submittals from initial application to Notice to Proceed (NTP).Support interconnection due diligence materials around M&A efforts.Assess M&A opportunities and develop an estimated IA timeline for internal stakeholders prior to any acquisition.Lead the preparation, submission and tracking of Interconnection Requests that modify existing IAs for M&A projects.Collaborate with the Project Development team to ensure the technical aspects of interconnection projects align with project assumptions.Coordinate with internal technical resources and external consultants to ensure the technical aspects of interconnection projects align with project assumptions.Stay informed about emerging industry trends and advancements to enhance the efficiency of interconnection processes in applicable ISO/RTOs.Attend (in-person or virtually) all relevant ISO/RTO Interconnection Queue meetings, distributing summary notes.Work closely with other functions internally and guide third-party consultants, as needed.Provide project status updates, maintain file databases, etc.Who You AreBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or other related fields.3–5 years’ experience in utility-scale interconnection or a relevant field is required.Experience with RTOs such as ISO-NE, NYISO, and PJM is preferred.Familiarity with concepts of power flow, short circuit duty, open access transmission tariffs and other regulatory frameworks.Experience in utility scale battery energy storage is a plus.Must be able to manage multiple ongoing projects.Must possess, at all times, a valid driver’s license.Team-oriented with strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Must have work authorization to work in the United States.Work Environment and Physical DemandsThe work environment and physical demand characteristics align with the essential functions of this job.
