ABOUT THE POSITIONSenior Transit & Rail Engineer/ Project Manager | HybridVHB is seeking a talented Senior Transit & Rail Engineer/ Project Manager to join our growing Transit & Rail practice, supporting our Wethersfield, CT projects. This hire will be part of a design engineering team supporting a variety of railroad and rail/bus transit projects. The candidate should have expertise and experience in the railroad and rail/bus transit industry and a desire to grow in the business.ResponsibilitiesLead and perform civil design on a variety of rail projects including stations, track structure and drainage, alignment geometry, grade crossings, layover/service/support facilities, bus transit, and maintenance of equipment (MOE) and maintenance of way (MOW) yards.Develop, manage, and maintain project schedules and budgets.Lead development of project deliverables.Support the Project Development process including preparation of conceptual level designs, feasibility studies, planning studies, supporting documentation and quality control.Perform inspections, evaluations, and assessments of rail and transit infrastructure. Develop specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.Prepare technical reports and analyses.Lead and assist in the development of construction bid documents.Provide design support services during construction.Work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-discipline team environment.Skills and AttributesStrong understanding of transit and rail infrastructure and multi-discipline system integration.Technical experience in multiple transit and rail design disciplines (track, rail systems, grade crossings, stations structures, transit facilities, bus transit, route design, right-of-way, clearances).Excellent verbal and written communications skills and analytical skills.Strong capability in the use of computer applications including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).Familiarity with track, station, layover/support/service facilities and general civil engineering.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required.Master’s degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience.8-11 years of experience in railroad or transit industry engineering design required.Clear understanding of railroad and rail transit design requirements including AREMA recommended practices required.PE License required.CTDOT project experience strongly preferred.Experience with the MicroStation CADD platform is preferred but candidates with AutoCAD experience and the desire to learn MicroStation will be considered.We are VHB!
