Position Summary:

The Director of Communications has a broad range of responsibilities to ensure both internal and external audiences engage with the company’s story and strategy.

Manage the communications strategy, activation and measurement for both employees and external stakeholders including earned media, thought leadership, crisis management, awards, reputation monitoring and internal company communications.

What you’ll do:

Establish and deliver a proactive multi-channel communications strategy and rollout plans for both internal and external audiences.

Manage media relations and develop/maintain contacts with media members, influencers, and community leaders for Tier 1, local and trade outlets, including occasionally operating as a company spokesperson.

Prepare and manage all communications material, including press releases, digital media kit, media messages, leadership presentations, and more.

Create and implement award and thought leadership strategy to grow company and product brand.

Partner with HR to lead internal communications with employees at multiple company locations with intentional engagement and culture building strategy, including bi-monthly leadership connects, company-wide announcements and employee townhalls.

Support company’s philanthropic efforts as needed.

Drive proactive crisis communications planning, training and preparedness for internal and external stakeholders.

Manage organic social media presence, channels and content creation to elevate awareness of the company story and brand across all platforms.

Assist in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content with in-house creative team.

Build industry and consumer trade show strategy and manage company presence at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.

Track OKRs and audience engagement across various platforms with accountability to senior level leadership.

Opportunity to build and lead team of communication professionals.

Operate on leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing.

What we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline

10-plus years of communications, marketing or public relations or related experience.

Prior experience at a consumer product brand a plus

Proven media relationships/contacts at both the local and national levels

Experience managing digital content

Excellent writing skills and copy editing for multiple audiences

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Established media relations with ability to demonstrate strategy and metrics analysis

Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing

Strong leadership track record

Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
