Job Summary:

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description:

The Cardiovascular / Thoracic / Transplant Unit is a 45 bed adult inpatient unit. It is primarily a telemetry / step-down unit that also provides continuous pulse oximetry. The unit serves the cardiology, cardiothoracic and vascular patient population. Patients admitted to this unit are usually admitted under the Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery (including the Heart & Lung Transplant) and Thoracic Surgery Services.

A wide range of medical disorders are represented including congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, myocardial infarction, and arrhythmias. The staff on this unit provides an individualized approach to patient care, emphasizing patient and family education regarding lifestyle changes, diet modifications, and medications. This is a fast-paced unit involving multiple diagnostic tests and procedures, in addition to a moderately high number of discharges and admissions per day. Teamwork is crucial to daily operations, and is greatly promoted among the staff and other members of the health care team.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Minimum of two (2) years previous clinical RN experience in a similar transitional care environment providing specialty care to cardiovascular and thoracic patients.

License/Certification:

Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.

Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.

Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification.
