The Director of Engagement is a highly organized, creative, well-skilled communications and stewardship specialist who helps lead efforts to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ through an active life in the Catholic Church in the parish of Saint Clare of Assisi by collaborating with parish staff, lay leadership, and parish members.

Communications

Lead all efforts related to the creation, strategy, and execution of parish communications channels including website, social media, and other media.

Parish Website: Posts time-sensitive announcements; ensures accuracy of information regarding programs, ministries, and people; updates the website to ensure creativity, attractiveness, and ease of use.

Weekly E-bulletin: Crafts and dispatches an attractive, informative, and engaging ebulletin using content submitted by parish staff, members, and appropriate outside organizations.

Newsletter: Gathers and publishes information in a creative style that helps parishioners know one another; writes and obtains content on themes such as Scripture, liturgy, history, and discipleship; includes news on current Church-related events, plus additional content to be determined.

Lead efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence, and effectiveness.

Network with volunteer and contract artists to develop graphic designs and audio-visual content.

Supervises the use of audio-visual technology for livestreaming liturgies and other parish events.

Police the use of logos and images that represent the parish and its employees.

Create positive relationships with diocesan communications staff and follow communications policies in effect throughout the Diocese of Charleston.

Stewardship

Develop a strategy and annual plan to focus on the formation and promotion of spirituality that invites parishioners to share their God-given gifts to time, talent, and treasure within the parish and the larger community.

Identifies and promotes opportunities for parishioner involvement in discerning how and where to apply their stewardship gifts.

When directed by the Pastor, attends the International Catholic Stewardship Council national conference and regional/diocesan conferences for continued formation and harvesting of good practices ideas to be considered for use in the parish.

Serves as the parish staff contact for special parish social events such as Newcomer Welcoming, Oktoberfest, and other events as directed by the Pastor.

Additional Responsibilities

When support staff members are unavailable, assist parish office walk-in guests with requests.

Assists with the school check-in kiosks at a weekend Mass per the scheduling of all parish staff, typically twice per month.

Performs other duties and tasks as may be directed by the Pastor.

Position Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in business, theology, or related field plus at least five years of experience in Catholic Church programming, education, or administration.

Faithful to and lives according to the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church.

Strong written and public speaking skills, organizational and analytic skills, relationship skills.

Highly proficient in computer skills including Microsoft business suite, Canva, social media apps.

Be flexible as circumstances may warrant, express a grateful and joyful attitude, possess the missionary heart of a disciple of Jesus, and have a sense of humor
