Join this talented team of life science professionals to bring these programs to fruition.The Opportunity: Director/Sr. Director, Research OperationsThe Director/Senior Director, Research Operations will be responsible for the successful management of research operations planning and execution for discovery and nonclinical development programs. Working from your background in drug discovery and development, the successful candidate will implement and facilitate planning and tracking tools to enable the scientific team to execute efficiently. The position is based in Encinitas, California and will report to the Vice President, Translational Pharmacology and Research Operations.What You Will Contribute:In collaboration with the scientific team, create and maintain discovery and project-based plans through acceptance of regulatory documents supporting phase 1 start.Monitor and support day-to-day research activities to ensure rapid data turnaround and milestone achievement; monitoring critical path activities to ensure delivery of project objectives on time.Facilitate and contribute to experimental design, project decision-making, collaboration, and problem-solving.Support administrative tasks required to move research forward including contract negotiations and execution, vendor selection and drafting of standard operating procedures.Identify program issues or resource gaps and facilitate resolution.Communicate program information and support development of program presentations to senior leadership, functional heads, and other key stakeholders as appropriate.Additional duties assigned as needed.What We Seek:MA/MS/PhD degree in a life science or related field required.8+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences or related industry, preferably in scientific or project leader/project management role.5+ years in a drug development program management role.Track record of leading research programs through discovery and preclinical phases of development.Thorough understanding of drug discovery research and nonclinical development functions including target selection, lead optimization, pharmacology, translational pharmacology, ADME profiling and toxicology.Highly proficient with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Prism, and ability to learn new systems quickly.Highly proficient with Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Project, experience with NetSuite is desirable.Strong written and verbal communication and be able to communicate effectively across functions and different levels of leadership.Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and be able to work collaboratively as a team member in a fast-paced, matrix environment.Well-developed interpersonal skills, with experience in interacting with and influencing people, building strong positive relationships.Flexible to accommodate changes in team and project needs.Ability to effectively handle multiple projects at a time.What We Provide to You:The opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives impacted by autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.Participate in a team of life science professionals who value science, data, high work ethic and a meritocracy; access to all levels of the organization to get work done with a sense of urgency.Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including stock options.Ventyx is an equal opportunity employer and encourages potential or current employees to request a reasonable accommodation under federal, state and local regulations, should one be needed. The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $180,000 to $250,000. Final compensation depends on multiple factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skillset, depth and breadth of knowledge, internal equity, company needs, and market factors.
