POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Data Center Development will focus on securing land for potential data center projects and managing the development of essential infrastructure such as power, water, and fiber. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the project development process, including collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring the successful development and client acquisition of data centers. The Manager will also be responsible for attracting and managing relationships with clients who will construct and operate the data centers. Travel up to 50% is expected in this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Strategy and Execution:

Assist comprehensive sales strategies and growth plans across markets, aimed at achieving sales targets and expanding market share for data center solutions. Spearhead business development activities that increase branding and market impact using a solution sales process methodology.

Client Relationship Management:

Serve as the direct client interface on all sales engagements, leading customer meetings, presentations, and contract negotiations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at various organizational levels, from data center executives to technical staff.

Market Development and Representation:

Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and the competitive landscape within the data center and energy sector. Represent the company articulating the benefits of infrastructure modernization and energy-efficient approaches.

Technical Collaboration and Solution Development:

Coordinate with internal engineering resources to evaluate sales opportunities, manage site audits, cost-savings calculations, and return-on-investment analyses.

Leadership:

Provide guidance on best practices and strategies for effective client engagement and deal closure. Foster an internal and external partnership ecosystem to support customer acquisition and develop a sustainable opportunity funnel.

Contract Negotiation:

Lead negotiations for contracts, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with regulatory requirements. Work with legal and financial teams to finalize agreements.

Reporting and Analytics:

Regularly track and report on sales performance metrics, pipeline status, and market feedback to senior leadership. Use data-driven insights to continuously improve sales processes and outcomes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, engineering, or a related role within the Data Center sector.

Demonstrated successful financial analysis for development of Data Centers.

Proven track record of closing high-value deals and achieving sales targets.

Strong understanding of the data center market, including client needs, industry trends and the competitive landscape.

Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and decision-makers.

Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and stakeholders (up to 50% of the time).

COMPENSATION
